Welcome and Call For Participation

The Organizing Committee of the 9th International Symposium on Power-Line Communications and Its Applications (ISPLC 2005) would like to invite delegates to participate in the scientific and social activities of ISPLC 2005. The Symposium will be hosted by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia, and be held in April 6-8, 2005, in Vancouver, Canada. The IEEE Vancouver Section, the IEEE Communications Society, and the IEEE Power Engineering Society are technical sponsors of ISPLC 2005.

The Symposium is centered around the general problem of communication over power lines. It focuses on the latest technological advances in power-line communications and current and future applications of power-line communication systems as, for example, broadband Internet access, indoor home networking, power-line based communications in vehicles, power-line control networks, automatic meter reading systems etc. The Symposium is also the first of its kind held in North America, which mirrors the renewed interest in developing a market for power-line technology in Canada and the United States.

The objective of the Symposium is to bring together academia, industry, and standardization organizations and to stimulate and foster research, development, and commercialization of power-line communication technology. As such ISPLC 2005 is aimed at researchers and engineers as well as managers and users of power-line communication systems in a wide sense. Contributions by Ph.D. students are particularly encouraged.

Further information about becoming an ISPLC 2005 Patron are here.

We would like to conclude with the remark that the symposium venue, Vancouver, the pearl of beautiful British Columbia, is undoubtedly one of the most pleasurable places to meet, work, and relax.
